The Cheerios commercial isn’t the first time that people got personally offended because of an interracial relationship in an ad. I found a fun channel that compiles “anti-white” commercials featuring interracial couples on Youtube.
“But she is not just a 37-year-old woman on a massive shopping spree.”
Say what you want about Marissa Mayer and Yahoo’s acquisition of Tumblr, but this line just floored me. In a national newspaper? Would the same have been said about a 57-year-old male CEO making business decisions? Or even a 37-year-old one?
Men make acquisitions. Women “go shopping”.
When men buyout companies they’re being ruthless businessmen.
When women buyout companies they’re shopping.
See this? THIS is why feminism still needs to exist.
Sexist fuckers being all fucked up need educating with baseball bats…
tee hee, you know those ladies with their shopping and international corporate tech conquests

Hungary is now a totalitarian state largely run by neo-Nazis.
Rromani & Jews have been screaming their lungs out over the last two years.
Canada & W. European countries have been repatriating Rromani refugees back to Hungary over the last several years.
They said it’s “not that bad”. They said our lives weren’t in any “real danger”.
We saw this coming.. now, it’s too late.
No one ever listens until it’s too late..reblogging from the source on this one, also I just went hunting for articles about this and it is both scary and unsurprising:
human rights watch on the new constitution (the specific bits of it that this article points out are FUCKED UP); the wiki article on it; another overview of the constitution thing; wiki article on the fidesz party itself
i’d known a little bit about how fucked up hungary’s been getting lately but i hadn’t known it was this bad. shit. :(
Ah, fuck.

I mean, if your kid isn’t doing great at school, what better motivation is there than limiting the amount of food your family can afford? But somehow, I haven’t heard about a piece of legislation that would allow more or fewer tax deductions for the wealthy based on how their kids are doing in school. Weird.
Yeah! There isn’t enough pressure on kids between the ages of six and eighteen anyway! Let’s tell them that how well they do exactly what the teacher tells them will determine how much food their entire family is able to buy! That’ll stop them from having nervous breakdowns and dropping out of school!
because nothing helps kids pay attention in class like stomach-churning hunger pains!

Just in case you thought there weren’t influential men out there who don’t understand how menstruation works but are trying to take away your access to birth control anyway — there are.

“These priceless manuscripts are my identity, they’re my history. They are documents about Islam, history, geography, botany, poetry. They are close to my heart, and they belong to the whole world.”

The 2013 Destruction of the Ahmed Baba Institute Timbuktu Manuscripts
Since last spring, rebel fighters in Ansar Dine in Mali had seized the northern historical city of Timbuktu, imposing sharia law on the city’s residents and destroying several historical and cultural sites - including the destruction of 300 Sufi saints’ shrines while.
As joint French and Malian government troops advanced into Timbuktu to regain control of the city, in a final act of defiance, the rebels set fire to the newly-built South African-funded Ahmed Baba Institute, one of the many libraries that housed more than 20,000 invaluable scholarly manuscripts that ranged between the late 13th and the early 20th centuries which contained writings in Songhay, Tamasheq and Arabic on art, geography, science, medicine and calligraphy by the late Abbasid Caliphate.
This destruction is heartbreaking. And criminal.
According to reports by the Associated Press and others, Malian soldiers entered the city of Timbuktu on Monday as al-Qaeda-linked militants fled into the desert after having set fire to a library that held thousands of ancient manuscripts. Reportage’s Brent Stirton photographed these manuscripts in 2009. It is not known how many have been destroyed in the current conflict. The manuscripts date as far back as the 11th century and reflect the continent’s historical knowledge on Islam, medicine, science, law and technology. See more of Brent’s work from Timbuktu in his series, “Timbuktu Today.”
