This is a blog. On it are fannish squees, liberal politics, and the occasional personal post.

The full-grown bumble-bee bat (Craseonycteris thonglongyai), at about the size of a bumble bee,is considered one of the smallest mammals on the planet. But its comparatively wide wingspan enables the animal to hover and cover long distances, which it navigates, like other bats, with echolocation. The bumble-bee bat inhabits only a certain area of Thailand and Myanmar and is listed as “vulnerable” on the IUCN Red List, because the population of less than 10,000 has been disturbed by human activity in the limestone caves and bamboo deforests where they reside.

So, you know how special it is when you’re a little girl and you meet your favorite princess, and you ask them for a picture with you, and it feels so magical and special?

Well, I decided to give that magical feeling to little girls dressed as princess (and one little boy dressed as a pirate) all around Magic Kingdom. To make them feel special and beautiful, as ALL little girls deserve to feel.

I would scout out a little princess, ask the parents for permission, and get a photo with the kid. I’d say, “I have been on a princess hunt for a long time, and I haven’t found ANY that were as special and as BEAUTIFUL as you! Can I take your picture with me?”

You. Should. Have. Seen. Their. Faces.

They would literally skip away with their parents after I was done, with the biggest smiles and the brightest eyes. It warmed my heart so much. And the parents were constantly thanking me, telling me how sweet I was, and how nice it was that I was doing this. I will never forget that day as long as I live <3

This is so wonderful.
