This is a blog. On it are fannish squees, liberal politics, and the occasional personal post.

i’m always slightly uneasy about the presence of children at rallies and protests, partially because such actions can become violent, but mostly because a parent bringing a child to hold a sign feels slightly coercive, as they might not fully understand what they are participating in, or even want to [see the westboro baptist kids!].
but all concerns aside, this kid is awesome c:
My kid is 8 (almost 9)… and trust me, he already has his own ideas, beliefs, and feelings. He doesn’t like certain things—including greedy people—and he understands the news when he watches it (BBC News). He thinks that what the people are doing on Wall St is a great idea, though he thinks that they should listen to the police (but he also thinks that the police should stop being mean just because they have big sticks and can hurt people if they want). He said that is like a bully, and that bullies are usually hurting too but they don’t want to admit it…

cookies, dammit.
Yes, I agree. Taking a babe-in-arms to a protest is a risky (to say the least) choice. Even a toddler could be crushed...
sounds like he’s got the whole thing figured out better than some of my classmates and peers, which should speak not...
