Near Eastern blades were highly valued in Europe, and many fine examples were exported and mounted with European hilts. In this example, the Ottoman blade has been fitted with a hilt and scabbard damascened with gold arabesques of oriental inspiration.
The blade is inscribed in Persian (one of the languages of the Ottoman court): “It is a dagger since it attempted [to take] the life of the unfaithful lover. My Turk took it [wrapped in gold] and bound it to his sash.”
Dots are used to represent the adjacency between digits. Each digit 0-9 is represented by a colored segment. Dots assigned to a segment represent digits that follow the digit represented by the segment. The position of the dot is roughly the position within the number that the digit appears.

The full-grown bumble-bee bat (Craseonycteris thonglongyai), at about the size of a bumble bee,is considered one of the smallest mammals on the planet. But its comparatively wide wingspan enables the animal to hover and cover long distances, which it navigates, like other bats, with echolocation. The bumble-bee bat inhabits only a certain area of Thailand and Myanmar and is listed as “vulnerable” on the IUCN Red List, because the population of less than 10,000 has been disturbed by human activity in the limestone caves and bamboo deforests where they reside.

Buildings Based On Human Bone Structure Could Be the Future of Cities
“Biomimicry borrows design solutions from the embedded intelligence within animals’ bodies—chiefly from other species. But occasionally, it also borrows from within the human body. For example, a new study from MIT suggests that buildings of the future could be built with super-strong materials based on the structure of human bones…”
